When God Ran

So he got up and went to his father.  But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him. Luke 15:20 NIV

It has been awhile since my last post. We’ve been walking in the valley lately with our youngest daughter regarding her health. There is much to say about God’s faithfulness during this time and I look forward to sharing about it in a future post but I felt God wanted me to share this today.

One of the things I’ve been doing to soothe our daughter when she has had bouts of delirium is to play Worship Music. While doing this, we listened to this song. WHEN GOD RAN by Benny Hester. I believe there is someone who needs to hear this powerful message of God’s Love and Forgiveness today. Here are the words and video:

WHEN GOD RAN
Almighty God, the Great I Am,
Immovable rock, omnipotent, powerful, awesome Lord,
Victorious warrior, commanding King of Kings, mighty conqueror,
And the only time, the only time I ever saw him run…

Was when he ran to me, took me in his arms, held my head to his chest, said, “My son’s come home again,”
Lifted my face, wiped the tears from my eyes,
With forgiveness in his voice, he said, “Son, do you know I still love you?”
It caught me by surprise when God ran.

The day I left home I knew I’d broken his heart,
I wondered then if things could ever be the same,
But one night I remembered his love for me,
And down that dusty road, ahead I could see,
It’s the only time, the only time I ever saw him run…

When he ran to me, took me in his arms, held my head to his chest, said, “My son’s come home again,”
Lifted my face, wiped the tears from my eyes,
With forgiveness in his voice, he said, “Son, do you know I still love you?”
It caught me by surprise, it brought me to my knees, when God ran.

I saw him run to me, and then I ran to him.
Holy One, righteous judge, he turned my way,
Now I know he’s been waiting for this day.

And then he ran to me, took me in his arms, held my head to his chest, said, “My son’s come home again,”
Lifted my face, wiped the tears from my eyes,
With forgiveness in his voice, I felt his love for me again,

He ran to me, took me in his arms, held my head to his chest, said, “My son’s come home again,”
Lifted my face, wiped the tears from my eyes,
With forgiveness in his voice, he said “Son,”
He said, “Son, my son, do you know I still love you?”
Oh, he ran to me,
When God ran.

Dear Heavenly Father,
Please bring someone to this website who needs to know and have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep your eager love is for your creation. (Ephesians 3:18 NLT) May they be moved by your Word and receive the revelation and understanding of that love today. LH
